Unfurl napkin ring - Rauni Higson

£175.00
sold out

Rauni Higson is a leading British Silversmith, known for her distinctive sculptural tableware. Her contemporary designs are created using traditional silversmithing techniques, principally by forging and hammer-forming sheet silver.

Based in a converted chapel in North Wales, overlooking the dramatic landscape of Snowdonia. Her work is inspired by the natural world, particularly the dramatic mountains and coastline. her work captures movement, growth, fluidity and flow.

The napkin rings are created by the technique of Fold-forming, where a single sheet of silver is folded completely in two, then hammered while folded, which changes the form, and introduces the curves. After hammer forming, the piece is opened out like a book, to reveal the 3-dimensional form.

The original pair of these napkin rings were the first the first piece of Rauni’s work to be purchased for the Goldsmiths’ Company collection, in 2003 for their collection.

Please note that right and left facing napkin rings are available in each design
